So, I haven’t really been around much lately. After being willfully unemployed for 6 months, why I left really isn’t that important, I started a new job about a month ago. Problem is, I hate it. I loved my old job, loved my staff and the people I worked with, and the environment. I am basically doing the same thing I was before, just with a different company. So what’s the problem you ask? Well, I took a step down, and for someone who is a control freak that isn’t always an easy thing to do. Basically I am in control of every aspect of my life, but when I walk through those doors I have to give it all up to someone else, and I do not enjoy it. After being in charge of a multi-million dollar a year business, not being in charge isn’t easy. Also, I’m starting to think that maybe the great group of people I worked with had a lot to do with how much I loved my previous job, and maybe I don’t really love it as much as I thought I did. Anyway as far as I’m concerned this new position pays the bills until I find something else.

Since all this happened I haven’t really had time to pursue anything around the house. Or, I feel guilty because I know I NEED to be doing something else so I wind up doing neither what I want to or need to do. I’ve had no time for sewing even though it’s a literal itch I get while at work everyday. My skin literally starts to crawl because I want to go home and sew, so badly. I am hoping that I will have my sewing room set up soon to make the process a lot easier and maybe I can get some more done. In the meantime I have joined a couple of swaps, thinking that maybe it will force me into acting even though I’m so tired when I get home I don’t feel like doing anything. Maybe I’ll have some new projects to post soon. At least by he end of the month anyway.

My First “Solo” Project

So this is something that I finished up the other day. I’ll admit that there isn’t anything special about it. It’s a very simple construction and the concept isn’t new, but I’m proud of it. It’s the first bag that i have made without any sort of pattern, tutorial, or instructions. For some people this isn’t a big deal, but I am relatively new to sewing and have never had any type of lesson or instruction. My mom gave me a machine for Christmas a couple of years ago and I have just been going it on my own. I have been working on the Amy Butler Nappy Bag for a friend of mine and this is made from the leftover fabric from that project. It is from Amy’s Lotus line of fabrics. I’ll post pics of the Nappy Bag when I’m finished. Right now though I”m having a hard time with the handle, the layers of fabric are just too thick for my machine. Anyway, this little bag will be sent to my Grandmother as a Mother’s Day gift so at least I have that out of the way.

I know this isn’t one of those places that you commonly share, much less with strangers but I just love opening my kitchen cabinets and seeing this. The majority of the Fiesta Ware is new, but two of the pitchers are vintage. I don’t have the number of place settings that I want yet, I think I need three more. Also, there is some random stuff in there that my Mom has picked up from thrift stores. The large bowls are dollar store finds but they colors go great with everything else and they are super heavy. It just makes me happy to open my kitchen cabinets and see this everyday, it almost makes me enjoy doing the dishes. Not only that, but this is the most organized my kitchen cabinets have ever stayed. It’s just a colorful little corner of my world.

Hi, so this is my very first blog post. Seems like I’m a little behind on technology these days. So, a little bit about me. I live in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains with my three dogs and my boyfriend. I just ventured into the land of home ownership for the first time so that has been consuming my time for months. I’m hoping this blog will turn into a place to receive feedback about some of my domestic and crafting endeavors. Sorry this first post is so boring. I have had so many things I have wanted to post about in the last few weeks, but it has taken me forever to get this thing started. So here goes, let’s see where it goes from here.
